How hard is it to install

I need to do a upgrade.My question is how hard is it to install the hd.

In most units, it's very, very easy. We include the tools and instructions with pictures in our kits, and our drives are fully formatted for each model specifically.

what can one do if they already have an extra hard drive (120 Gb) but it is not running the software for your current TiVo? Perhaps there is a way to format the drive for a price?
