Restore from DVD backup, will it work?

I have just backed up my Pioneer DVR-57h and restore the backup image to a new drive. I burned the backup image onto a DVD-R. Can I restore the image on the DVD-R directly to a new drive without having to copy it first to a drive with FAT32 partition? I know the mounting command line will need to be changed accordingly, anyone has done it?

The Hinsdale instruction states that backup image of a Pioneer DVR-57h is not available. It is now.
