Upgrade Series 3...which backup to use

Hi,

I have Series 3 which I upgraded the 250GB stock drive with a WD 500GB OEM drive last year. Made a back-up (software version 8.3).

Now I'd like to upgrade again to 1TB. I thought I read a while ago that you could only upgrade once because of max partitions. If this is the case, should I restore the old back-up to the 1TB rather than make a new backup from my current 500GB drive (which is running the current software 9.2a).

When you make a back-up, the partitions are restored to the factory original number, so you can back up and restore the 500 onto a 1tb without a problem. That way, you will have the same software version.
