  • SVR-3000 Stuck at 'Deleting All Files' screen

    We ran into some problems (no data showing on Now Playing) that weren't resolved when we restarted, so, we did a total restart that deletes everything. Unfortunately, now we are stuck at the deleting all files - this may take an hour screen. Do you think a new hard drive will help? And if so, when I replace the hard drive, do I need to know my account number or something - I don't have any idea where my paperwork is for TIVO.

    That's 99% likely to be a bad hard drive. You should purchase a "replace" TiVo upgrade kit. Kits for your model are here.

      Is HDD failure a common Tivo problem or a bug in the Tivo software?

      A friend wanted to get rid of his Tivo so he decided to "clean" it up before selling it, now its a nice warm brick that constantly displays 'Deleting All Files'.

      What's the use in an upgrade that will fix an out of warranty unit if it costs more than buying a whole new DVR? ($119 upgrade vs $99 new with a new warranty)

      Is there not a "fix" for the current HDD? Maybe a reformat then install a new image?

      Inquiring minds want to know
