HD TiVo to Go

I'm considering taking TiVo up on its offer for lifetime subscription with purchase of a new TiVo HD. However, I'm confused about the Home Networking feature.

I hear from the forums here that you can't transfer recordings onto or off of the HD TiVos. But TiVo's site says that the HD and Series3 both have TiVOtoGo. That would imply transferability.

Can someone reconcile these two?

When the units first came out, there was no transfer capability. That feature has since been added with a software update.
