  • Transferring programs off a RCA DVR 40

Ok, made the leap to HD and I now have a Directv HD DVR. Problem is I have quality programs saved on my old SD Tivo (South Park in particular!) How do I get the programs off of the old Tivo to the new HD DVR? Using an interim step of transferring the programs off off of the old Tivo to an external hard drive hooked into my laptop would be fine.

Here is the equipment in question:

    From:
SD DirecTv Tivo - RCA DVR 40 - with a Weaknees provided additional 120 GB Drive (Using my best Cartman voice - Sweeeetttt!)

    To:
    DirecTv HD DVR Hr21-700

The old tivo only has usb connections (most likely version 1.1) whereas the new HD DVR has usb as well as ethernet. I do have a male to male usb cable.

I'm sure someone has figured this out.

    Much Appreciated!

    Jeff

Sorry to say, there's really no way to do this. You can either burn the shows to DVD, or just keep the old unit connected to the TV and continue to watch the shows from there.
    Been here a long time . . .

thanks. Off to Plan B. Taking the RCA SD Tivo and putting it on the tv upstairs. Old programs upstairs, new ones downstairs.
