A month ago, I posted and received help regarding a failed power supply, thanks Michael!

A week ago, the unit rebooted itself again while watching a recorded show. It did that roughly once a day for weeks (if not months) before the power supply went.

So, I followed other advice I've seen here in the forum, and I ordered a UPS.

The day before the UPS showed up, the heat in my house went crazy (bad damper) and it hit 97 degrees before I got home to turn it off. The HDVR2 was "buzzing" at that time.

I unplugged it overnight, and the next day didn't turn it on until the UPS arrived. It works perfectly, but it's still buzzing. If I press on the top cover, it becomes more muffled, so whatever is rotating or vibrating inside, is causing the cover to "buzz".

Any ideas what it might be, and could it really have been caused by the temp in the room being 97 degrees?

Finally, after installing the UPS (on Friday), the unit indeed rebooted itself again today during playback. That can't be good, and it was happening before my heat went crazy as well, so I'm sure it's unrelated. What might the cause of that be?

Thanks in advance!

Do you still have the old power supply? You might see if that one buzzes now also - that would mean it's not a power supply problem.

Beyond that, maybe the drive isn't fully screwed down, or the fan is hitting a cable.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I tossed the old power supply, as I couldn't get it to boot with that, so I think it was definitely bad.

What I'll do (likely over the weekend) is take the cover off, and turn it on without the cover, so I can see if whatever is rattling is visible.

Thanks again.

OK - just be careful running it without the top on! That's pretty dangerous.
