    I have a Tivo 1. We have had our phone thru our Cable company for 6 months and have not had a problem until Jan 1. In the middle of the call the connection fails. This also has happened to my parents who have a Tivo 3 and have had the cable phone for a year. The cable co says it is not VOIP. Does anyone know, did TIVO send an update that has messed this up for us. Anyone else have a problem with digital phone. My parents can solve their problem by connecting over a computer network right? But we can't with our old Tivo. HELP I don't want to go back to AT&T and dont want to keep taking my box to my neighbor every 14 days.

    No, there have been no updates that would have caused this problem. Cable phone systems are not standard POTS (plain old telephone service) lines, so you'd want to talk to the cable co about how best to dial out using a modem. Sometimes they have options you can switch on/off to help modem dialing.
