  • Clobered old drive A attempting to add a new drive B

I have a series 1 Sony SVR 2000 which I upgraded to a new 160 Gbyte drive A and all was well. Then I decided to add a new drive B 160 Gbyte.

I used Hinsdale Upgrade Configeration #1 on page 13, which is:

    mfsadd -r 4 -x /dev/hdc /dev/hdd

However, I booted the CD in default or Series two mode and used the utility.
The utility completed OK reporting the increased storage capacity. But when I install them in the TiVo box it continously boots as if the drives are not working but when I return them to the computer setup all seems OK. Series 1 mfsinfo reports all OK. When I attempt to use mfsbackup it fails after the copy starts.

I must have screwed up the drives structure, is there a recovery that I can do?

It sounds like you booted into the wrong kernel and didn't limit the drive size to 137gb. You should be able to take a backup of the two drives into a file and then restore that, but you will lose all recordings in the process.
