I have a Tivo TCD24004A that stopped working, no welcome screen, no signal, nothing. I opened it up to check on the cables and see if there was anything obviously wrong inside (I had replaced the original drive with a 500Gb drive a couple of years ago). I disconnected the ribbon cable for the drive leaving the power cable on and plugged it in. Now I get the 'Welcome. Powering up...' and the hard drive spins up and the green LED is on solid in the front. If I connect the ribbon cable then plug it in, the drive won't spin up and I get no welcome screen? (the rear fan works no matter what). Power supply maybe? I'd gladly buy a new one but I missed the window for transferring my lifetime service. Any advice?

after leaving it plugged in on my bench for a while now it DOES spin up the drive with the ribbon cable connected. It also gets past the 'Welcome. Powering up...' screen and to the 'Almost there. just a few minutes more...' screen, but then it hangs there for about 5 minutes and eventually loops back to 'Welcome. Powering up...'. Looks like I still need help.

My guess is that you have a failing power supply that hasn't completely failed yet. We have replacements here:
