  • Performance of larger hard drives on Hughes HDVR2

I have a DirecTivo Hughes HDVR2 TiVo with a 300MB drive from WeaKnees. In another thread, we determined that the problem I was having was a bad tuner. So, I just bought a new (that's right, NEW!) Hughes HDVR2 Tivo. So I am going to buy a new hard drive for the new Hughes HDVR2.

My question is one of performance. I am thinking of buying the special that WeaKnees currently has for the 500MB drive. For the Hughes HDVR2, is there a performance difference between the 300MB and the 500MB drive? In particular, if both drives get full up (if we record and keep a lot of movies), can the Hughes HDVR2 keep up with them on a processing basis? Or will the extra data slow down the Hughes when I'm paging through the lists, etc.?

Many thanks in advance for any of your advice.

Really, with the latest software, there's never a speed issue on these machines that's related to drive size. The 500 will be just as fast as the 300.
    Been here a long time . . .
