Paring CableCards after TiVo HD Upgrade

The Weaknees upgrade instructions for the TiVo HD state - ...it may be necessary to call the cable company to HostID and DataIDs...

Can anyone be more definitive? Does the cable card paring get wiped out when the TiVo HD's internal disk is replaced or not?

Originally, it took THREE visits for my cable techs to get the cards set up!
I can't imagine COMCAST letting me just call-in to get things reset. If this happens, I suspect COMCAST will tell me that a tech visit (at my expense) will be required to get things fixed again.

If there's any way of knowing what to expect, I'd like to find out.

It is very rare, but when it is necessary, you typically just have to call the CableCo with any changes to the information. A site visit isn't typically required, even when the cards have to be re-paired.
