Series 1 + Rabbit Ears + DTV = ??

I have two Series 1 TIVO's that run off of rabbit ears. I ordered my requisite DTV boxes, but now I'm wondering if I've got a problem.

Will I still be able to record my shows (from various networks) after the DTV switch-over? Am I missing something?

Series 1's are basic, but both have lifetime service-- can't give them up!

We fully expect that TiVo will update the software on all Series1 and Series2 units to be able to control converter boxes, but we haven't heard when this should happen. Considering the amount of remaining time here, we aren't too worried at this point.

Thanks! So until then... what's my solution? If I get the DTV converter box, but don't have a way to hook it in, I'm still stuck in really-old-VCR mode.

When / If TiVO releases a software upgrade, how will I know it's been released and downloaded to my TiVo, and I can attach the DTV box?

I think there'll be plenty of news, and likely some indication on-screen, when the time comes - and that's still 8 months from now.
