tivoHD with Direct TV

Been casually looking into upgrading our "viewing system" to HD (TV, tivo, directTV etc.).

I don't understand why the new tivo's won't work with DirectTV. My old (10+ years) tivo works fine with DirectTV. I'm assuming there was a deal signed so that DirectTV forces you to buy their dvr.

Is there a way to hack the new tivo to work with dTV? I don't want to give up the tivo that I know and love and I like the channels/service I get with DirectTV.

There is no way to do this. The older HD TiVo boxes for DIRECTV cannot process/decode most HD channels from DIRECTV. It is like trying to stick a DVD into a CD player...the CD player just can't read the DVD. Same with the HR10-250 TiVo...it can't read the new HD channels from DIRECTV.
