Signal Strength

I have a question about signal strength...When I look at the signal strength of the DTV, different transponders show different strengths. Before I got my Tivo years ago I could pick the transponder with the highest reading and set the receiver to use it. Now with the Tivo I don't know how or if I am able to set it to the strongest signal. It seems to pick and choose at will and is not usually on the strongest signal. What advice do you have for me?

It is normal for different transponders to have different strength. Different channels come in on different transponders; you cannot choose what transponder to use.
