I've pulled the old Toshiba Series 2 SD-H400 out of the closet, where it sat nearly three years. This is the model that gets free basic Tivo service for (it's) life.
I can buy the bigger hard drive from WeaKnees and swap it out myself. I want to do that before hooking it back up. I just want to be sure that Tivo will not notice the change and deny the free service.

p.s. I posted here a few day ago about getting a replacement remote control. I found it. So I'm ready.

I just read the instructions. Duh. And ordered the hard drive.

Just so anyone else reading this knows the answer: drive changes don't affect service with TiVo. In this case, the Toshiba unit ships with TiVo Basic service, and that will continue after a drive upgrade. If your unit has lifetime service, that, too, will continue after an upgrade.
      Been here a long time . . .
