Incomplete recordings

My DirecTv Hughes SD-DVR40 is starting to bum me out.

About half of my recordings are clipped before the show ends.

I know I can change the "stop recording" for each but this is easy to forget when selecting a program from the guide.

My question is this: Is there a way I can set the "stop recording" to a different value EX:2 minutes longer.

I understand that some of the networks intentionally float start and end times to fit in promos or additional advertising.

Any input would be appreciated.

There's no default way to lengthen the time. But you can change the time in a season pass and make that work. Often, now, DirecTV sends down true info about the length of programs, so programs longer then, say, 30 minutes truly record to 32 minutes or whatever.

I will have to remember to change the setting.

My kids were bummed to miss the end of some of the Christmas shows.

I guess I can't "wish list" but I can "season pass" correct?
