  • IDE/SATA adapter - capacitor blew up

I purchased two of your IDE/SATA adapters to use in an HR10-250. I had already prepped the drive in an external enclosure and went straight to installing it in the HR10-250 (single drive config.) The red led light went on and it didn't boot up. As I walked away to give it more time there was a loud pop and one of the two capacitors blew.

The Tivo and the original drive still work in the Tivo and the 1T drives works using the second adapter in my home PC. However, I decided it must be a bad capacitor so I installed the new drive back in the HR10-250 and the red led went back on. This light doesn't light up when installed in my PC. Should I let it boot up in the Tivo or should I leave it uninstalled?

    The drive is a 1T WD10EAVS.

You should probably email us and let us swap that out. We really haven't seen that before.
    Been here a long time . . .
