Another 2 drive to 1 question

I also already have a two drive updated Samsung SIR-S4040R that is freezing and needing a reboot(freezes several times a day).

I want to replace the drives but wanted to know if I can go from 2 down to 1 drive solution, because i can't connect more than 4 devices to the CPU, and I have to boot from a CD.

There is no specific instructions for that so I wasn't sure.

Sure, you can do this, but without saving the recordings. Just use something like this:
