i have a series 2 that just started rebooting constantly. it gets to the "almost there" screen and will then reboot. it has 80 & 250 gb drivs in it. i ran spinrite on both drives and it found no errors. im running the overnight kickstart now. all seems to be normal up to now.

I have instant cake and could reimage but considering it just started happening out of the blue i dont think its a software issue. i think ive ruled out the hard drive being bad. next on my mind is the power supply.

any ideas what the problem could be or what else i can try before getting a new power supply?

Really, that could be a power supply, but it's much more likely to be a bad drive. Do you have another drive around that you can image as a test?

really?? even if my PC has no problems recognizing the drives and spinrite detected no errors?

you're the expert and have probably seen more issues than I can imagine but it surprises me that you still think it could be one of the drives.

Out of curiosity what issue with the drive do you think could be causing the reboot?

Ill try to drop another drive in and see if that takes care of it.

Thanks for the quick reply!

If you are trying to troubleshoot the problem, given the symptoms it would be worthwhile to try a new drive, yes.

put a new 500g drive in it and it works perfectly now so you guys were right. I thought I was gonna be SOL. Thanks so much for your help!
