Is it possible for me to salvage the data from the Directv TIVO hard drive?

The tuner card in my last Directv DVR is trashed, so I bought another one.

But I would really love to be able to download the programs from the old drives.

Is it possible to connect the old drives (which I believe are still good) to my multimedia computer and get the programs to convert to mpgs?

DIRECTV DVRs have encrypted content and locked-down USB ports. Due in part to concerns from content providers (and the pure digital content on your box), DIRECTV has not been willing to change this.
