Tivo Service Agreement

Are you required to have a service agreement in force to use a Series 2 tivo in manual mode. Or does the Tivo software disable the unit unless it detects a current service agreement.Thx.

For Series2 units, TiVo requires you to have service. If you purchase the unit new, you will have service for a short period (like 30 days), but after that you will have no ability to use the unit at all.

Sorry, but no. TiVo survives as a company primarily through the money it receives for the TiVo service.
