Toshiba RS-TX60 Tivo-hard drive failure

I get these two screens back and forth
• TiVo stuck on "Almost there…"
• TiVo has Green "A Severe Error has occurred…

This happened right after I did a phone update.

Tivo tech support thinks it is a hard drive failure to me me it sounds more like a Tivo software corruption.

Those are often one and the same. The corruption happened (likely) due to a hardware problem on a platter. A replace kit (http://www.weaknees.com/tx60.php) should fix the problem.
