Change from 2 drives to 1

I purchased a 160gb upgrade drive from Weaknees a while back but now the master drive which is the original 40gb that came with the Tivo is dying.

Is there a way to remove the 40gb drive and re-format the 160gb drive so it can operate alone?

The data on the drives is unimportant.
