  • Howto query

Firstly, thanks for a great howto.

    One quick question...

At the end of Section 7, OPTION #3 (limited use): COPYING TiVo DRIVE TO NEW UPGRADE DRIVE (keeping all recordings etc) it says

"skip to Step 10: Upgrade Configuration #2 to quickly expand/complete your upgrade."

    10 #2 says..

    UPGRADE CONFIGURATION #2:

From: Any Single or Dual Drive TiVo
To: New A with B Drive |or| New Single Larger A Drive
(Fast option – preserves setup, season passes, etc but not recordings)

Before I set to work, is this correct, or should you skip to config#3?

    Many thanks

    Matthew

    That's right.

The idea is that you've first made an exact copy of your original (smaller) drive onto the new (larger) drive and then tested it.

After you confirm it's OK, you put the new drive back in the PC to add the extra space to the partition table, so that you get the extra capacity.

You'll want the first command in #2:

    Code:
mfsadd -x /dev/hdc (expanding single larger A drive)
    Been here a long time . . .

I believe the Hinsdale instructions are correct. Once you copy the entire drive from one to another, you use the mfsadd command to expand the space.
