DSR704 with R15 remote

I had an R15 with many issues so I picked up a used DSR704 with no remote. I know I can buy the "peanut" remote, but i can I make the R15 remote work with it as well?

Yes. Although you may find it a little more cumbersome to use, the white, rectangular remotes that DTV provides with the R15 is compatible with all of their equipment. I believe it may simply need to be programmed. You'll find instructions on Directv's website.
