dying harddrive?

I had a 2 harddrive system(the original + weaknees upgrade) however I was having issues with the system powering down at random times even though I replaced the power supply. I took out the original drive and instant caked the weaknees one to run by itself however it every time I try to update the settings it powers down. I ran seagate diagnostics and it says the disc is fine, but the disc is making noises and not running properly.

Could it be something other than the harddrive?

That really sounds like the hard drive. How old is it?

Hard drives can sometimes pass manufacturers' diagnostics and still cause problems in a TiVo. We're pretty sure that if you replaced the drive, you'd be fine.

The harddrive is less than 6 months old.
