  • ethernet over coax

I tried the ethernet over power solution that Weaknees sells and it does not work for me. I taked to Weaknees and they say they have no complaints and I believe them, but for whatever reason I can't use it. It works in the same room (so on the same circuit), but if I move over even one room the connection becomes very weak, more than 1 room (like the other side of the house where the Tivo is!) and it becomes unusable. I believe something is generating interference on my power grid, but I checked all the obvious things like phone extenders. I even went around unplugging most of the things in the houe to no avail. So I'm stuck paying the 15% for the restocking fee, bummer.

So looking around for another idea. I found an ethernet over coax solution here http://www.smarthome.com/30000.html?src=RKGGOOGLE but the price of the master and target unit is almost 400 dollars. Think I'd rather run cat 5. Then I found this for 112 dollars for both ends -http://www.vpi.us/cgi-bin/vpi/eth-coax.html Which seems to be too good to be true.

Anyone had any experience with this subject and/or with this unit?

We've never used that, but running the CAT 5 is probably the best answer. It's not too hard to do, and it's inexpensive cable.
    Been here a long time . . .
