  • Apple Lossless Encoding and TiVo?

I have a series 2 TiVo and I use it with my iTunes.

I read in this issue of MacWorld about Apple Lossless Encoding - a "compressor" that doesn't really compress and therefore gives full quality, but saves a little space on my Mac.

But with TiVo To Go, I want to get my tunes. I currently use MP3. Will my TiVo read Apple Lossless?

Sorry to say, I'm pretty sure it's MP3 only. I don't think ALE or even AAC will work in a TiVo, although now that QuickTime support is coming, there may be support for more music formats.

I should add that you can always rip your CDs at ALE and then copy them and convert another copy to MP3, so that you have the original at full quality, and then another for use with TiVo Desktop . . .
