Tivo series 3 upgrade problem

I used dd command to copy my 500GB hard drive to a new 750GB hard drive.
I put the new hard drive back to Tivo series 3 and test it out, it works fine.
So, I put it back to PC and try to expend the capacity for the new drive.
Here is the problem….

After “./mfstool add -x /dev/sdb -r 4”
Returns
Standalone size 582 hours
No more to add

The new drive should have more than 582 hours.
I wonder what happened? Why I can’t expend the new drive…..

You can't expand a drive that's already had one expansion. Since you did a dd, you've copied an expanded image. The only way to get all of the space would be to do a backup and restore so that you are back to a 250 GB image size, and then use your one expansion to get to 750 GB.
