  • SWM gurus....CCTV !!!!!

ok bare with me this is a bit of a different question.

Currently I have Directv with a SWM set up in my house. Because of an almost non existent attic and impossible addition wire drops, the SWM has served me well. I have it set up with an 8 way Skywalker splitter.

So this is where things get interesting. Because of the aforementioned issues with limited attic space, combined with pre existing wiring, I have a question about adding a CCTV security system.

Can I tap into the exiting wiring to distribute the video feeds from four cameras. Could I use a programmable modulator combined with a splitter and diplexer. Or is there another method to consider.

I have been scratching my head on this one to say the least. The CCTV installers are familiar with Directv but not the swm.

Seeing as I have a SWM8, perhaps the OTA??

    Suggestions !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    appreciated

Yes - you can insert CCTV into the system via the OTA port on the SWM, then diplex it out on the legs coming out of the SWM.

is there a chance you could do a rough diagram. My cctv installer isnt familiar with the SWM.

Sorry - no easy way to do that. But the port on the SWM is clearly marked, and he/she should know their way around a diplexer (one in, two outs . . .).
