  • New A drive in two drive Series One

I just bought and installed a new 160 GB replacement A: drive for my Sony SVR2000 Series 1.

I had installed a B: drive a long time ago, so I was running two drives until my A: drive went bad and I had to replace it.

I've got the new A: drive installed and have run the Tivo setup but it doesn't recognize the B: drive. How do I activate the old B: drive?

It's full of recordings, but I'm not concerned with whether they are preserved or not. If they can be that would be nice, but I just want to use the capacity.

    Thanks.

You'd have to send us both drives or do the work yourself to get the B to be recognized again.

Info for sending the drives is here:

and doing it yourself is here:

Damn dude. I guess you could use that answer for any conceivable question. I was hoping for some instructions a little more specific to my situation. I just bought this drive from you, I thought I might get a little support.

Do I have to treat my existing B: drive as a new B: drive as if I were adding a B: drive to a single drive Tivo or can I make the new A: drive recognize it witout a lot of effort?

Yes - treat it as a blank drive.

Any way you slice it, both drives need to be in a PC together to get this to work.

              Michael,

I assume this is the same for a series 2? I purchased an 2nd drive 2-3 years ago from Weaknees and didn't have to send in my A drive.

Now I am replacing my A drive with one from Weaknees and can't get the TiVo to recognize the B drive.

Do I need to reformat both drives now or just the B drive?
