  • Tivo Channel drift?

I have my S2 Pioneer 810 Tivo (w/expanded hd) connected to my Cox digital cable box thru the serial connection for channel remote operation. Until recently it has worked perfectly. However, now whenever I change to any random channel sometimes the cable box will continue to scan either up or down to the next channel or even the next 2 channels.

I just replaced the cable box (thinking that could be the problem) but it is still having the issue. I can use the cable supplied remote and change channels one at a time on the cable box. But when trying again with the tivo remote, I get a channel drift.

Guessing this is a hardware issue???

    Anyone had this problem???

Haven't seen it personally, but someone did contact us about a similar situation earlier today. Who is your cable provider?

no that wasn't me. Was wondering though. Do you think changing to using the IR blasters would make any difference. Or should it be the same.

It's worth a try. We have replacements here:

Apparently there is an issue with the serial connection and some Motorola cable boxes after a recent cable firmware upgrade. Causing the once reliable serial connection to become somewhat flaky. There are a lot of posts over at the Tivo community about this exact issue. The answer is indeed to go with the IR blasters instead of the serial connection. I changed over to the IR blasters and it works great. So if anyone out there is having a similar issue - change over to the IR blasters at least until there is another software update by Tivo that will work with the recent firmware upgrades. If they would consider updating the S2's.
