  • Tivo wireless adapter drops out

I bought a Series 3 and Tivo wireless adapter from Weaknees. I've used a series 2 with a "b" adapter for over 2 years without problems. The new Tivo adapter loses its connection about every 4 days. I initially set it up using dhcp from my router but after several dropouts, I assigned a static ip. Still no joy. I have to unplug and replug the adapter about every 4 days and it reconnects. Any helpful ideas about this problem?

I wish I'd known the series 3 doesn't support WPA encryption, tivocast, multi-room viewing, tivo-to-go, or deleted items folder. I thought I could seamlessly use my series 2 & 3 together, but no. They say a service upgrade will provide support for some of these.

I love the dual tuner and revised remote, the transferred lifetime subscription, and the HD capabilities. Gary

WPA and TiVoCast should be coming soon to Series3 boxes, as well as the deleted items folder.

The dropouts might be caused by a different location (and therefore distance from the router) or the increased speed of G. Maybe move your router a bit and see what happens.
    Been here a long time . . .

The adapter sits about 15' from the router, right where the 'b' adapter sat. It has not dropped its connection for 8 days now, so maybe I'm ok. I hope the update gets here soon. Do you know if MRV is coming also?

Multi-room viewing isn't being anticipated for the Series 3. We suspect that, aside from the huge file sizes, the high quality of the content precludes TiVo from allowing the material to be transferred as files due to rights/licensing considerations.
That's all there is to it!
