  • Images freezing on my HD TIVO. WD ext. drive the culprit

A word of warning about Western Digital's external hard drive. Mine worked fine for about 1 1/2 years, and then I started experiencing frozen frames on my HD TV. I spent a considerable amount of time troubleshooting this with the tech folks at TIVO, to no avail. This occurred whether I was watching a recorded program, or watching buffered live TV. I then called weaknees and within 10 minutes they suggested I disconnect my external hard drive. Problem solved. Warranty is for only 12 months. I am going with the upgrade kit provided by Weaknees.

Yeah - we really think a single internal is the best answer, if possible. In addition, for whatever reason, WD doesn't seem to use AV drives in their AV externals, which certainly can't help matters.

    Thanks for the post!
