I really need help and through my searching haven't found an answer that works or makes sense. I have a Directv HR-24 receiver in my living room. It has a SWM box hooked to it. I want to move my receiver to the diagonal corner from where it currently is but in doing so need to hook it up with a different cable. I was hooked up from the 4 way splitter to the following: 1st out port (with red arrow) is current living room cable to SWM. 2nd out port is to my HD receiver in my bedroom. 4th out port is capped off because we don't need it. 3rd out port was connected to my cable modem when I had internet service back when system was installed. Because I no longer have internet connection, I ran that cable to my new location in my living room. The first time I tried to move it, I only moved the receiver as well as SWM & got a 771a error. When I called Directv I was told to move it back to where I had it & if I wanted to move my living room setup I could set up a service relocation for $49. I wasn't too happy because had I known that I couldn't move my tv & receiver within the same room, I would have asked for the SWM and DVR to be set up in my bedroom. Anyway, after reading a bunch of forums that honestly made little sense to me, I moved the tv and receiver with SWM box to my new cable & swapped the out ports on the splitter but still received the 771a error. I then hit the red reset button on the receiver hoping for the best, but still got the 771a error. Please tell me I am not crazy & there is a way for me to be able to move my set up to where I want.
