color fading in and out

I have a Weeknees DirecTivo (Hughes model HDVR2) that is about 3 years old. It is hooked up with S-Video cables from the receiver to a Bose 1-2-3 system, then to the TV. For the last week or so the colors will intermittently fade in and out, or flicker into multicolor displays. It happen when watching either live programs or recordings. This does not occur while viewing over-the-air programs or when watching DVDs thru the same 1-2-3 system. I've also noticed if I pause a recording while in the multicolor mode, after a few seconds all color will come back until I start playing the recording again.

I have exactly the same problem. It didn't start until my son installed a new Sony home theater system to the unit. ANY help would be appreciated.

Odd color shifts are often the result of a failing s-video cable. I'd suggest swapping the cable or trying a different output.
