  • Questions on already upgraded Philips DSR704

I upgraded my Philips as soon as I bought it way back when to a 160 mb drive. It is only showing 120 hours of the 140 available under 6.2

Is there any easy way to get the extra 20 hours using a boot disc with LBA support?

If not, is it possible to move everything to a larger drive given I went from the factory 40 to the 160. I want to save the thumbs ratings and my season passes especially.

Actually, no, you can only expand each position (A or B) to two sets of partitions. You had one originally, and you've added a second to the A, so you can't expand to get the extra space. But if you go settings-only, then yes, you can get extra space.
    Been here a long time . . .

I gather I should do a back up then restore from the backup to save the settings?

I have a bracket and cable kit for a second drive I bought here to use in my Series 2 Tivo before dumping Comcast for DirecTV. If I read the catalog correctly, the bracket should work in the 704, allowing me to add a second drive?

Thanks for the great products and support!

        Exactly right.

In most cases, the bracket is interchangeable. With a DSR704, any of our revisions should work.

Would it be possible to back up the entire upgraded 160 gb drive to a FAT32 partition then restore from the FAT32 partition to the new larger drive?

          Thanks for the help.

No - not with recordings, if that's what you mean. You'd still need to be adding another set of partitions to the A drive, which can't handle another set.
