  • 5 HD DVRs - one cable or two into house?

To run 5 HD DVRs (10 tuners) I would need the SWM Expander (SWM E2) and two SWM8s and two splitters. How can you make this work if you only have one cable coming into the house?

If everything was connected outside (SWM E2, 2 SWM8s) you still have to have at least two lines coming in then you could connect them to a splitter.

So is it correct that to operate this many tuners I would have to have at least two cables coming from outside into the house? Also is there a problem with plugging the E2 into an outside outlet?

You can't use 2 SWMs with only 1 line coming into the house, unfortunately.

The SWM E2 power supply is not water/weather proof, so you'd want to have the SWMs and the power all in an enclosure.

I assume you can use 2 SWMs if you have two lines coming in, Correct?

Correct. 8 tuners out of each line, one from each SWM.
