  • WK-Michael, see my last post for how I got the SATA drive to work again

See my last post under "WK-Michael." I got the nonfunctioning SATA drive to work, and I want you to know what I did to get it to work once again, because a customer of yours will have this problem sooner or later sometime in the future.

    Thanks.

      WD My Home book 1TB

      I have a 8300HD as well
It is running on SARA, not sure which version
It recognizes that there is an external drive, but says there is a problem please check connections
When I unplug anything , it recognizes this as well and instructs not to unplug things and that the DVR needs to be rebooted
It is just not getting to the stage of asking it to reformat the drive
I have tried numerous combinations of pulling wires and restarting, should I be giving up ?
I have been using a ESATA 2 cable with identical connections on each end
They seem snug and I even cut one end back to make sure it set in
The drive works on ESATA on the computer and has been reformatted to NTFS
Should I reformat it to something else , or add copy right protection software to enable to be compatible to the DVR HD
Any help you can give would be appreciated
      Steve

Is the drive brand new? Is it from us?

Have you successfully used any external on this DVR?

Who is your cable company, and what city are you in?

Sorry to say, we don't know anyone in Ontario using one of these successfully.

Have you asked the cable company if their DVRs accept external drives?
