  • Series 3: cheaper a la carte?

    Hey WK,

I notice that after your recent price reduction on the basic Series 3 ($699), that it is cheaper to buy the basic series 3 *plus* a 60 hour upgrade ($699 + $349 = $1048), than to buy the 60 hour upgraded unit in the first place ($1149).

Is that right? It's a minor hassle to swap the hard drive, but it would save $100 and I would get a spare hard drive.

The same math, however, doesn't work for the larger units. It's $300 cheaper to buy the largest series 3 ($1350), than to buy the mid-size model and upgrade ($1150 +$500 = $1650)

If you'd like to do it that way, that's fine. The big issue for us is the warranty - if we sell you a new box where we've opened the lid, we have to be responsible for the warranty. If you do it, our warranty only covers the drive.
    Been here a long time . . .
