  • mfsbackup command not working

I am trying to do a back from the instruction on Hinsdale page. I have a series 1. I have booted with the series 1 image and did the make directory and mount commands OK. The backup tells me the /mnt/dos/tivo.bak is read only.

I am not a Unix person, the only time I even played around with it was on a DEC computer and that was more years ago than I care to remember so I am completely lost in this world.

These are the commands I ran

    mkdir /mnt/dos
    mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos

    mfsbackup -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdb

There is a directory /mnt/dos on the CD and it looks to me like it is trying to write there? How do I get it to write to the C drive?

    Thanks

    Steve

Are you sure hda isn't the CDROM?

When I paged up from the boot the C drive was listed as hda and the TIVO drive was hdb

The instructions don't want you to write this to the CD. Why do you think it's trying to write there?

Because it came back saying /mnt/dos/tivo.bak is read only

Sounds like the CD is HDA - not the C drive. Are you sure the C drive is even connected?
