  • Can't see live tv -- hard disk problem?

I have an old Sony SVR-2000. It can't display live TV. Not sure it records either. Is this a hard disk problem? I have cleared and reset it, powered it off and on by unplugging it and resetting it. Still not able to get live TV to display. Obviously don't want to spend more to fix it than a new one would cost.
    Ideas?

And if I put a new hard disk in, does it come formatted and loaded with whatever system software a TIVO needs?

    Help!!

Have you tried redoing Guided Setup?

If you can get the TiVo menus but get a blue screen when you go to live TV, then you have a motherboard problem, not a drive problem (most likely). A new drive does come pre-loaded, but I don't think it will help you.

We can repair your unit, though. See:
