  • How big does the FAT partition need to be?

I am going to be upgrading my old 320gb drive to a new, larger one soon. I want to keep my settings/season passes, but I am okay with losing my recordings. I looked at the instructions, and it says I need a FAT partition on my computer's boot drive.

Well, the boot partition on my computer is a huge NTFS partition, but I also have a small FAT partition on the same drive. It is only 3.3gb. Questions:

    1. Can I use this partition if it is not the boot partition? (maybe by specifying something like /dev/hda1 for that small FAT partition?)

    2. Is 3.3 gb big enough to transfer just the settings to the new drive or do I need something bigger?

Thanks for any help you can give!

3.3gb should be big enough and you should be able to use that partition.
