  • SA8300HD - drive recognized but not working

I have used one of your drives on an SA8300 with great success. I upgraded to an SA8300HD. When I boot the set-top as before, a message tells me that the hard drive has been detected and warns about unplugging it, etc. But the drive is clearly not being used for recording (i.e. 10% free space with or without the drive). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

When you unplug it, do you get any error message? When you plug it back in, does it ask for you to confirm that the DVR should use it?

What OS does your SA8300HD run - same OS as the SA8300 did?
    Been here a long time . . .

Excellent - it now works. I turned off the set-top without powering it down, plugged in the hard drive, turned the box back on and it asked if I wanted to format the drive, etc.

If it might help others, I am on Time Warner Cable in Durham, North Carolina with a SA8300HD running the Navigator software.

Thanks for the quick reply and help.

OK - good troubleshooting! Although, I'm not really sure what was different, but clearly something changed.
