  • DirecTV HD DVR question

I'm currently a DirecTV subscriber, and will be purchasing a HD TV set in the near future (1-3 months). Here is my question:

If I upgrade my account with DirecTV to receive HD content and get the receiver from you guys or from DirecTV, can I still use my old CRT TV and watch the non-HD content?

I know I won't be able to view the HD channels without a HD TV, but will the non-HD content still be viewable?

Thank you in advance for your time.

    - Mojo.

Yup - sure - and even the HD content will come out via the non-HD ports in a format that the CRT should be able to read.
    Been here a long time . . .

I have a related question. I want to install DirectTV's whole home system with one HDTV and one SDTV. I'd like to record as much as possible in HD to get the best picture on the HDTV. Will I be able to play the recorded HD material on the HD receiver connected to the SD set?

      Thanks.

MRV will only move HD content, but once it is received by the HD receiver, I see no reason why you can't output it in 480i to a standard def TV.
