  • Ditching an R15 for a Tivo

    Can't take it any longer.....

Can I 'simply' purchase a Directv tivo and switch out the R15? Do you know if there are additional costs from Directv to activate it?, I'll retire the R15.

I'm looking at the Philips DSR7000, these are dual tuners that can record 2 satellite channels at once correct?

    thanks

Yes, you can substitute a DIRECTV TiVo for an R15, but you'll want to get one that can actually be activated. The DSR7000 cannot.

thanks, I'm asking about ditching the R15 for a directv tivo. not the the other way.

Are you saying a DSR7000 cannot be activated? Weaknees sells them so I don't understand.

Right - we don't sell the DSR7000 at this point, just the units with RIDs like the DSR704 or DSR708 which can be activated.

I see thanks. Your page at http://www.weaknees.com/directv-tivo.php probably needs an update since it mentions the 7000.

Sorry to be dumb but what is RID's?

          thanks
