  • 3 Wire SWM8

I have a Motorhome with a Winegard - DIRECTV Slimline Model SK-3005 automatic multi-satellite TV antenna. When I had it installed, they ran 2 coax cables to the front TV (HR-24) and 1 coax cable to the back receiver.

I want to switch to a SWM installation so I can move the HR-24 to the back and replace it with a HR-34 in the front. I also want to incorporate the OTA signal as well. I've looked over the different drawings on the WeaKnees site but they all require 4 coax cables from the antenna base to the SWM8 inputs. I've tried to install a 4th coax cable but have had no success.

What will I lose if I only have the 3 cables connected? ........Will it work at all?

You need 4 cables from the dish to the SWM. Just install it at or near the dish and run 4 cables from dish to SWM. Once you have it all working then you can worry about adding OTA.
