Combining TiVos

I have a Tivo Series 2 40hr single tuner with lifetime service, but the hard drive has gone bad. I also have a Tivo Series 2 80 hour dual tuner without lifetime service. Can I just transfer the hard drive from the 80 hour to the 40 hour without having to do anything else to get a working box? Also, is there any way to combine these so that dual tuner and lifetime service are together?

So can I assume the only option I have is to take the hard drives out and copy the 40 hour one over the 80 hour one?

No, because the software from a single-tuner won't work on a dual-tuner.
