  • Dead TIVO

I have a HD TIVO model TCD658000 which has just died - no lights on front panel and only the hard drive is spinning. I talked to Weaknees tech person and we tried a new power supply which did not fix the problem. We now think it is a motherboard problem. My question is, assuming the HD is OK, if I can find a working replacement used TIVO (eBay, Craigs list) can I install my old HD and use the second TIVO to play the stored programs on my original HD? I am looking for a way to watch a lot of stored programs on my failed units HD. Thanks for any help.

Nope. No way to do that. The programming is encrypted and can only be viewed by using the drive in the original unit, attached to the original motherboard. Sorry.
    Been here a long time . . .
